A 35-foot female humpback whale washed ashore at Sandy Hook on April 1, 2026, becoming the second whale stranding in New Jersey this year.
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center responded quickly after the whale was first spotted floating near the beach early that morning.
Examination revealed significant bruising on the whale’s right side and head, likely the result of a vessel strike. Read More... |
