Business Spotlight

A wave of hope arrived in New Jersey as a rescue flight touched down at Essex County Airport on January 23, 2026, bringing dozens of at-risk dogs and cats from South Carolina. Pilots To The Rescue, an organization founded by Michael Schneider in 2015, coordinated the mission with volunteers who fly animals from overcrowded shelters to safety.

This journey began in Georgetown County, South Carolina, with 24 dogs and three cats, ensuring new chances at happy lives in northern shelters. Working with the SE Coast SC Rescue Collaboration, the group places these pets with New Jersey rescues for adoption opportunities.

Local groups like Shore Saves in Freehold and the Jersey Shore Animal Center in Brick offer rewarding ways to get involved, from adoptions to events. The Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees hosts its annual “Love Your Pet Adoption Event” this February, uniting people with rescued companions.

💡 Answer to Trivia Question:

Asbury Park was founded in 1871 by James A. Bradley, a New York City-based industrialist and brush manufacturer. The city was named after Bishop Francis Asbury, a Methodist bishop. Bradley was a devout convert to Methodism and purchased a 500-acre tract of woodland for $90,000 to develop the seaside resort town.
