Sea Girt, nestled along the New Jersey shore, reflects a vibrant past closely linked to the Stockton family and its founder, Commodore Robert Field Stockton.

 

Established in 1853 as a grand summer estate, "Sea Girt" was named for its seaside surroundings—a name later embraced by the entire borough.

 

Before its founding, the area was home to the Lenni Lenape, who gathered for annual beach celebrations, a tradition adapted by early settlers into "Big Sea Day."

The Monmouth County SPCA in New Jersey is appealing to locals for foster families to help dogs in crisis, especially pit bulls like Trouble.

 

Trouble, a young pit bull, survived severe stab wounds in January and remains in shelter care due to ongoing legal issues. The stress of prolonged shelter life is taking a toll on him, making a foster home urgently needed.

 

MCSPCA’s Executive Director, Ross Licitra, stresses the immense impact foster families have on dogs’ recovery. Fosters receive the supplies and behavioral guidance they need, creating a positive experience for all.
