Neighborhood bistro experience at New Jersey Shores

Spring Lake is set to welcome its first neighborhood bistro and bar, Marée, this summer.

 

Located at 1123 3rd Avenue, Marée aims to blend the charm of a local bar with the elegance of French bistro cuisine.

 

The name, meaning "tide" in French, reflects the establishment's inspiration drawn from the ocean's rhythm and the coast's timeless character.

 

Chef and restaurateur Marilyn Schlossbach, alongside entrepreneur Bret Morgan, are the visionaries behind this venture.

 

Schlossbach, a seasoned figure along the Jersey Shore's culinary scene, was captivated by Spring Lake's evolving downtown vibrancy.

 

She observed, "I've never felt this downtown vibrancy. People are walking around, they're spending sometimes hours or a day downtown."

 

The decision to establish Marée in the former Wells Fargo space was influenced by the town's progressive steps, including the development of affordable housing above the restaurant.

 

Schlossbach's travels through France, particularly a memorable meal in a small town south of Biarritz, inspired the bistro's culinary direction.

 

She reminisced, "It was just grilled fish with garlic, a baked potato, and a bottle of rosé. I can taste it when I talk about it."

 

Emphasizing simplicity and quality, Marée plans to source local, sustainable ingredients, offering a menu that reflects French influences while honoring the building's history.

 

Schlossbach expressed excitement about contributing to Spring Lake's community, stating, "You thrive when your neighbor thrives. I look forward to having these relationships with fellow business owners in downtown Spring Lake."

 

Marée is slated to open by Memorial Day, inviting residents and visitors to experience a unique blend of local bar ambiance and French bistro cuisine in a welcoming setting.
