Ada’s Gojjo: A Culinary Fusion of Ethiopian and Dominican Flavors in Asbury Park

Experience Authentic Ethiopian and Dominican Cuisine at Ada’s Gojjo

Ada’s Gojjo in Asbury Park offers a unique blend of authentic Ethiopian and Dominican food, creating a dining experience that bridges two rich culinary traditions.

Located at 1301 Memorial Drive, this restaurant has become a beloved spot for those seeking flavorful and culturally diverse dishes.

Owner Adanech Asghedom, affectionately known as Ada, began her culinary journey in Long Branch in 2009.

She was the only one among her 12 siblings who had a passion for cooking, often helping her mother in the kitchen from a young age.

After moving to New Jersey and exploring various careers, Ada realized her true calling was in the culinary arts.

She opened her first restaurant, Ada’s Latin Flavor, in Long Branch, where she introduced Ethiopian recipes infused with bold Latin flavors.

In 2018, Ada relocated her restaurant to Asbury Park, renaming it Ada’s Gojjo.

The move was inspired by the vibrant and supportive community she found in the area.

During the pandemic, when many establishments faced challenges, Ada’s Gojjo remained open, offering takeout and outdoor dining, fostering a sense of family among her patrons.

The menu at Ada’s Gojjo is a testament to Ada’s commitment to preserving the integrity of each dish.

Signature Ethiopian offerings include Doro Wat, a spiced chicken stew served with injera, and Duba Wat, a pumpkin stew honoring a family recipe.

Dominican favorites like sandwiches and empanadas are also featured, each infused with Ethiopian spices for a flavorful twist.

For vegan diners, the restaurant offers naturally plant-based options such as butternut squash, cabbage, and the creamy Shiro stew made with chickpea flour, all pairing perfectly with injera bread.

Free street parking is available on Memorial Drive in front of the strip mall where Ada’s Gojjo is located, with ample bike parking and a scooter station right in front.

Seating is first-come, first-served, and takeout is popular among regulars.

For those seeking a unique culinary experience that combines the warmth and spice of Ethiopian and Dominican cuisines, Ada’s Gojjo in Asbury Park is a must-visit destination.
